Spinach and Bacon Dog Biscuits

Spinach & Bacon Dog Biscuits

A little bacon makes these green biscuits a high-value treat, while spinach sneaks in iron and vitamins. Perfect for training rewards your dog will work hard for.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped fresh spinach
  • 2 tbsp cooked, finely chopped bacon
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups whole-wheat flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix spinach, bacon and egg.
  3. Add flour to form a dough.
  4. Roll, cut into small training-size pieces.
  5. Bake 18–22 minutes; cool fully.

🩺 Vet-informed safety note

Use bacon very sparingly — it is high in salt and fat, so a tiny amount for flavor is best. Spinach is fine in moderation; dogs with kidney issues should skip it due to oxalates. Always avoid these in any dog treat: xylitol (a sweetener often in peanut butter), chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, and excess salt or sugar. Treats should make up no more than about 10% of your dog’s daily calories. If your dog has allergies, a sensitive stomach, or a health condition, check with your veterinarian first.

Storage

Store cooled biscuits in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 3 months. Always let treats cool fully before serving.
