Quick answer: Yes — plain, cooked turkey is great for dogs. Skip the skin, bones, and all seasoning.
Turkey is a lean, dog-friendly protein found in many commercial foods — and a fine treat at home, with a few important caveats (especially around the holidays).
Plain and boneless only
Skip the skin (too fatty), the bones (they splinter), and anything seasoned. Holiday turkey rubbed with garlic, onion, butter and salt is a common cause of upset — and onion/garlic are toxic to dogs.
Why turkey works
It’s a lean, highly digestible protein, great for training treats and for dogs with sensitivities to more common proteins.
How to serve
Offer small pieces of plain cooked turkey breast, or bake it into soft meatballs.
