Training calls for treats you can give again and again without overdoing it. These are tiny, soft and low-calorie — pumpkin and oat, baked thin and broken into bite-sized rewards. Gentle enough for senior dogs, too.

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin purée 100% pumpkin
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp plain unsweetened yogurt
  • 1 cup oat flour

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C); line a baking sheet.
  2. Whisk pumpkin, egg and yogurt together.
  3. Stir in oat flour to a soft, spreadable dough.
  4. Spread thin on the sheet and score into tiny squares (or pipe small dots).
  5. Bake 18 minutes, cool, then break apart into training-sized pieces.

Notes

Keep them small and soft for training and for senior dogs. Count them within the daily treat allowance.

🐾 Vet-informed safety note. Plain pumpkin is fiber-rich and gentle, and tiny soft treats are ideal for training and for senior dogs with sensitive teeth. Treats (training ones included) should stay within about 10% of daily calories. Source: American Kennel Club.
