Quick answer: Yes — cooked, boneless salmon is excellent for dogs. Never feed it raw.
Salmon is one of the best proteins you can share with your dog — rich in omega-3 fatty acids that support skin, coat and joints. The key word, though, is cooked.
Never raw — and never with bones
Raw or undercooked salmon can carry a parasite that causes “salmon poisoning disease,” which is potentially fatal to dogs. Always cook salmon fully, and remove every bone, which can splinter or cause choking.
Why salmon is great
Those omega-3s are anti-inflammatory and great for a shiny coat. It’s also a highly digestible, novel protein — useful for dogs with some food sensitivities.
How to serve
Offer plain cooked salmon in small pieces, or slow-bake it into jerky. Skip the oil, salt and seasonings.
🐾 Vet-informed safety note. Feed only fully cooked, boneless, unseasoned salmon, in moderation. Source: American Kennel Club.
